Santeiu Griffin

Santeiu Griffin is the Intern for the National Diversity Index at the National Diversity Council (NDC). Santeiu is currently a second year Master’s Student at Wayne State University set to graduate in May 2023. Once her degree is completed, she will be continuing her education and seeking a PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology focusing on African American Studies and Women and Gender Studies. With this, she will be pursue a career as a Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at an institute of higher education.

Santeiu has always been fascinated by various societies and understanding cultures vastly different from her own. This passion led her out of the United States and into a country she felt was deeply underrepresented. While pursuing her undergraduate degrees, she studied abroad for an academic year in Seoul, South Korea. Her time in Korea opened her eyes to how truly unique the world is and how each culture could learn from each other to further the lives of its people. This launched her on the path to Sociocultural Anthropology and DEI. Ensuring all people have access to achieving their definition of success is the foundation of everything she does. Diversity, equity, and inclusion allows further understanding of obstacles people may face while giving Santeiu the opportunity to help others overcome those barriers.

Aside from that, she is your typical nerd! She enjoys videogames, movies (especially Marvel), anime, reading, writing, collecting Funko Pops, and more. Outside of school and work, you can usually find her at the movies or frequenting museums and new restaurants. These activities have naturally taken a pause given the current pandemic, but she hopes to return to them soon!
